Retreat for Professionals
As the week begins, participants are invited to present existing work in class for discussion. As the week unfolds, each participant generates new work by developing a daily photographic log of the week's events and also by spending part of each day immersed in a meditative process with the camera to deepen their sense of awareness of the soul of the photographic setting. Additional exercises can be custom tailored to individual needs and desires of each participant. The approach of this workshop allows for students to share and discuss their discoveries and challenges in class, exploring new territory, discovering new methods for reviewing and gaining insight into one's own work, or deepening the familiar. These experiences allow provide students with the ability to explore the role of the engaged observer as well as the stillness of the contemplative photographer. At the end of the workshop, the participants will have explored, re-visited and shared their existing work in a like-minded, supportive community. Additionally, they will have had an opportunity to experience new ways of working, and to stimulate personally relevant new approaches to integrating work, art and life.
