In addition to hue, saturation, and luminosity, emotions and style also play a role in one's response to a photograph. In this workshop students explore and master color as a way to express vision, create moods, and tell stories in photographs. Techniques include color adjustments in both camera RAW and Photoshop, as well as how to develop a workflow from camera to print in order to achieve the best results. Participants use hue and saturation corrections, selective color, curves, masking and local corrections, gradients and fine color corrections, print rendering options, and advanced dodging and burning techniques to control and perfect the range and depth of color in their imagery. Color theory and color harmonies are discussed, along with viewing student work and the work of other photographers to better understand how color defines mood and emotion in photographs. This class is for digital or film photographers working in a hybrid workflow, who already have at least a basic understanding of Photoshop (or Lightroom). Participants photograph daily and work with their images in Photoshop. Steve's book, Photoshop and the Art of Color Photography, is not required for the course, however it is an excellent back up resource for content Steve teaches during the week.
