Photography Residency

Jun 6 - Aug 28

A mentored program of technical workshops, Master Classes, field and lab work.

Spending concentrated time away from the demands of everyday life provides artists and photographers an opportunity to learn, develop skills and create new portfolios. The Residency program offers students the chance to design a sequence of workshops and master classes in areas of personal interest.  Each 12-week residency consists of eight workshops, with an additional four weeks included for one-on-one mentoring with a member of the resident faculty at the Workshops.

Summer residencies are available in the following areas:

• Digital Darkroom
• B&W Darkroom
• Fine Art
• Studio & Commercial
• Portraits
• Documentary & Photojournalism
• Nature & Landscape

Students may elect to concentrate their work solely in one field, or design a program that encompasses interests in a variety of areas. Students are encouraged to include at least one professional development course during the residency. All Maine-based workshops offered in the 2010 catalog are available as part of a residency program.

Application Process:

Students of all levels are welcome to apply. The process begins by completing an application, either online or by calling 877-577-7700 (toll free), 207-236-8581 (internationally). Students should then submit a portfolio of recent work and a brief statement of interests and goals for the residency as well as an initial listing of workshops they wish to attend.  Upon receipt of all materials, a staff faculty member will contact the student and together they will design a residency program. The residency must be a contiguous block of time.

Some workshops may require additional lab/model fees.
