Landscape Photography: Camera & Computer Craft

It is a gorgeous morning, photographers rise nice and early, get in place in the dark and are all set to bring that memory and experience back for all to share in a photograph. Now here's the challenge, bringing back what the mind, and more importantly, what the heart saw at that early hour. The task and desire of the photographer is to create in an image all of the information and romance experienced behind the camera. A lot of the time it doesn't come easily, and to do so this workshop explores the combination of crafts, both in camera on location and postproduction in the digital lab. Light, color, shape, placement, the human eye, the brush and the curve all play a part of this week of landscape exploration in Maine! Class starts with the simple challenge of taking human binocular vision and narrowing it down to the viewfinder and the wide range of light our eyes see down to less than five stops. Once camera and capture is mastered, students come back to the digital darkroom to delve into the available tools to help bring the memory and experience into the image. This workshop is for digital photographers.
