Family Storytelling

Jul 25 - Jul 31

A learning vacation for the entire family.

Anne Day

Many families use digital technology to record significant events. This workshop is designed for those who want to take their family storytelling to the next level. Together with experienced faculty, families explore photography,  and book-making as means to capture and share their family histories.

A number of exciting, challenging, and artistic adventures planned for the week, including trips to the beach, a windjammer cruise on Penobscot Bay, shopping, a visit to an area museum, and hikes to the top of Mount Battie. Each member of the family teams collects their impressions with digital cameras, a sketchbook and journal.

Informal dinners together each evening are key to the class experience, allowing families to share their daily adventures and stories from the past. Anne leads parents and their children through the process, offering tips on how to better use the moments, light and composition. She also teaches students how to edit their work, design a layout and create a multimedia book in Apple's Aperture software, These books are printed and mailed to families' homes following the workshop.

This class is for parents and their children, ages 8 to 18, who have a basic knowledge of photography and a sense of adventure. Tuition Note: Adults: $585, Teens: $485, Pre-teens: $335
