Design and self-publish a photographic book with the latest developments in publishing.

The new world of online publication has brought exciting opportunities to the imagemaker’s fingertips. From the established artist to the enthusiastic beginner, these newfound capabilities have self-publishers creating their books in the comfort of their own homes at a remarkably affordable price. 

This shift in workflow and opportunity is cause for celebration. From technology to creativity, students in this workshop discover the myriad of options and possibilities. Students explore the power of using Photoshop within the bookmaking workflow to create layout designs in conjunction with and beyond the set templates available through Blurb. Color management workflow is explained and followed to insure that both B&W and color books are published in a consistent manner. Additionally, this course covers Blurb's new B3 program for businesses and creative professionals to gain greater control over their color management.

In addition to learning the software, participants study and explore the full realm of bookmaking including editing, sequencing, layouts, text, dust jackets and paper options. By weeks end, participants upload their new book ready for ordering from Blurb.

Students are to bring 30-40 images in digital form they wish to have made into a book.  Computer literacy and basic Lightroom and Photoshop skills are required.
