It is more important than ever to expand one’s skill set. More and more traditional journalistic and commercial institutions are asking their photographers to become multi-platform content gatherers. Learning to shoot and produce video is an increasingly valuable tool for photographers to have. Geared towards documentary photographers, this workshop provides students with the knowledge they need to understand how video cameras work and how to use them effectively in the field. Working with industry professionals, students find, develop and shoot documentary shorts about the local community. Daily critiques, demos and lectures provide an intense yet nurturing hands-on learning environment.
Students can work with campus editors or may choose to edit their projects on their own. Students are encouraged to edit their own work as it provides a more well rounded experience with video. Those who choose to produce during their week need to have an understanding of Final Cut Pro.
