Filmmaking Reality Style

Take a hard look at the production management side of creating a project

In today’s digital environment, “filmmaking” is more about storytelling.  Accessibility to equipment has increased in recent years so that many people have the basic tools available to them to make a short film (even with just a cell phone).  This workshop will focus on techniques used in reality/documentary production to create a short film in as little as a weekend with readily available tools.

Students will learn about:

·      Putting the creative team together
·      Prepping the project and location scouting
·      Lighting and on-set challenges
·      Editing and the post-production process
·      Contracts and releases

This workshop will not just focus on the creative side, but will also talk about the oft-ignored production management part (the business side) of creating a project. Using examples from real-life productions, students will learn the ins and outs of to make their production go as smoothly as possible.

A proficiency with cameras and editing software highly recommended.
