Today’s affordable high-definition cameras make it possible for almost anyone, with the proper training, to create high-end videos and television programming with unprecedented production values. This course is a comprehensive, hands-on workshop that is designed to help anyone who wants to get a jump-start on producing broadcast-quality productions using today’s state-of-the-art professional camcorders and lighting equipment. Students receive both classroom instruction and hands-on, real-world training in a variety of field production environments.
Under the guidance of respected freelance cameraman Doug Jensen, who has over 33 years of experience in the industry, students learn about camera set-up, menu options, picture profiles, video format options, exposure, white balance, focusing, cinematic depth of field, sound recording, time-lapse, slow-motion, camera movement, lens selection, composition, clip naming, and much more. In addition, this course also includes an introduction to 5-point interview lighting techniques using both LED and tungsten lighting equipment.
While this class is not specific to any one model of camera, it does provide students the opportunity to work hands-on with the latest Sony XDCAM camcorders such as the PMW-200, PMW-F3, and others. All necessary equipment is provided, but students are permitted to bring their own professional HD video camcorder and tripod if they choose to do so. Students from all skill levels are welcome.
