Visual Effects Residency (WS)

Mar 14 - Apr 10

This month-long program introduces two- and three-dimensional animation, compositing, and a variety of special effects techniques.

Students in this month-long residency are introduced to a broad range of tools used in the visual effects industry: two- and three-dimensional animation, compositing, and a variety of special effects techniques.

As visual effects become more dynamic and complicated, the movie industry is in need of talented animators and effects designers who are capable of using the latest technology. The Visual Effects Residency is an in-depth, intensive four weeks of learning two and three-dimensional animation.

Using Maya, the program of choice for complex animation and effects, students engage in both daily and weekly assignments.  In addition, faculty members and students discuss animation and effects theory as means to better understand the impact and purpose of both. By the end of the course, students develop a varied portfolio exhibiting the technical, creative and practical skills learned during the residency.

Students should have a working knowledge of Maya and its interface before attending the workshop.
Winter/Spring lodging & meal package available for $425 per week.
