Program Coordinator

This position requires an experienced production manager with excellent administration and organization skills who will manage workshop and college programs in photography, filmmaking and multimedia. Requisite skills include organization, an understanding of preproduction, an ability to work with, and positively motivate people. The position requires familiarity with Macintosh applications including FileMaker Pro and Microsoft Office.

May 19 – November 9
$425 per week plus meals when campus kitchen is serving (Sunday dinner through Saturday breakfast).
 

Program Assistant

This position requires excellent administration and organization skills. This person is a liaison between Faculty, Teaching Assistants, and the Photography, Film and Multimedia Program Managers. She/He will have an intimate understanding of how the programs operate. Responsibilities include organizing course and student materials, workshop preproduction, and assisting the Program Coordinator with daily tasks. The assistant is an active participant in all course preproduction of Film, Photography, Digital, Book Arts, and Multimedia programs.  Requisite skills include organization, an understanding of preproduction, an ability to work with, and positively motivate people, handle class scheduling and classroom locations. The position also requires familiarity with various Macintosh applications. The position is central to the organization of workshops and the successful operation of the workshops for the Summer/Fall season.

June 2 – October 5

Program Intern

The Program Office Intern works directly with the Program Coordinator and Program Assistant.  This intern is responsible for answering phones, taking messages, running errands, reproducing course materials, and helping students where needed. The value of this position is the exposure and familiarity it provides with all aspects and wide variety of responsibilities in and across all MMW programs.

Photography Program Intern

The Photography Program Intern works directly with the Program Office Staff.  This intern is responsible for assisting with various Program Office activities, including providing campus tours, assisting with the Gallery, helping to organize and produce special events. The Program Intern will also be involved with helping students where needed, and may directly assist classes. Applicants for this position should have experience with assisting courses, and have some experience as related to photography and/or multimedia. Administration/Gallery Intern

This intern will assist the finance and student services department with the retail operation of the school store and gallery by monitoring the store and gallery spaces, assisting customers, showing work and making sales. This intern will assist with all mail and shipping functions of the school, assist with the retail functions of the school store from sales to inventory, participate in student welcome and registration and fill in as needed at the student help desk. In addition, the intern will assist in the organization and production of weekly Gallery Talks.  You will assist in the setting up and taking down of gallery pieces as well as participating in any opening receptions.  You will also participate in other research and projects as needed  This intern must be detail oriented, have the ability to multitask, have general knowledge of commonly used office equipment and electronic media, and bring a positive and enthusiastic outlook to each task.

Gallery Intern

Maine Media Workshops Gallery, 18 Central St. Rockport, Maine and Maine Media Workshops PhoPa Gallery, 132 Washington Avenue, Portland Maine are seeking LOCAL interns!

Maine Media Workshops Gallery and The PhoPa Gallery are seeking interns. This intern must live locally within commuting distance to either Portland or Rockport/Camden.  He or she will assist the Gallery Manager and PhoPa gallery by monitoring the gallery, assisting customers, showing work, researching exhibiting artist and making sales. This intern will be one who is currently pursuing a degree in photography or related field, and is passionate about the arts.  You will assist with various tasks including but not limited to conversing with patrons, sales of art, inventory keeping, and marketing outreach. In addition, the intern will assist in the organization and production of gallery openings and talks, assisting in the setting up and taking down of gallery exhibits as well as participating in any opening receptions. This intern must be detail oriented, have the ability to multitask, be highly reliable, have a general knowledge in commonly used office equipment, art handling and electronic media, an interest in photography and to work in a gallery, along with a positive, caring and enthusiastic personality is required.

May 26 – August 24 (possibly longer).
 

IT Manager

The IT Manager heads up seasonal IT support services for all departments of the Workshops + College. Works with the Director of Communications to ensure information technology needs are met throughout the organization. The right candidate will be familiar with both PC and Macintosh computers including graphics, post production and business software, networking, printer and post production configurations. The IT Department works in harmony with Digital Services Department to support all digital workshops and College courses, student and administration computers, software, servers and networks. Together these departments work to oversee implementation and maintenance of the school’s inventory and asset management systems. The successful applicant needs to be able to take initiative in solving problems and work as a team player in a student-centered environment. Moving computers and installing software is a requirement of the job, so the successful applicant must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. Weekend hours are required for classroom setup.

Communications & IT Intern

The Communications & IT Intern will work with the Director of Communications and  IT Manager and should have good working knowledge of computers, both PC and Macs.  He or she will also be a problem solver and a team player, able to lift 30 lbs.  During part of the week duties will include helping with print packet preparation, website updates and image/video asset management. Required weekend hours will include computer lab hardware and software setup. This is an excellent opportunity to learn many aspects of digital information management in the workflow of a fast-paced educational institution.

Locations & Talent Coordinator

This position works closely with both the Program Offices, coordinating locations, actors and models requirements for the film, photo and multimedia workshops.  This individual works with local landlords to secure locations and with instructors and teaching assistants to ensure locations are restored at the conclusion of each shoot. You will arrange for the required number of actors for film production classes each week and work with the student services and the Travel & Hospitality manager to arrange their accommodations. You will also work with the Photo program to secure models for the classes that require them.  This position requires strong organizational and communications skills and a head for details and follow-through.

Locations & Talent Intern

The Locations & Talent Intern works closely with the Location & Talent Coordinator to ensure that all workshops have the appropriate locations, models and actors.  This position works closely with the Program Offices, coordinating locations and actor requirements for the busy workshops season while maintaining and updating the information databases. This position requires strong organizational and communications skills and a head for details and follow-through.

Marketing Intern

The Marketing Department is looking for an intern with a love of visual arts, and a passion for organization and detail to assist with all aspects of marketing for the Workshops. This position will work with the marketing department staff to generate publicity for Workshops programs and events, capture photographs on campus for school publications, coordinate weekly student gallery files on the Workshops’ website and image archive, assist at special events, and other applicable responsibilities. Experience with digital photography and imaging software is helpful.
