Media Workshops Offer Volunteer Opportunities
ROCKPORT, Maine – Maine Media Workshops + College (MMW+C) announces a call for volunteers to support the school’s activities and extend its outreach into local and nearby Midcoast communities.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas within the school. There are openings for volunteers to hang event posters throughout the Midcoast; to meet and assist new students on campus; to help with landscaping, our kitchen garden, the Maine Media Gallery, and various campus offices and departments. Families are welcome to share the volunteering fun and experience the magic that resonates throughout the school.
“Folks don’t know what fun they are missing,” says MMW+C Volunteer Coordinator, Gwen Hughes. “There are some great perks that come with joining our group, but the best ones are the fun we have at the various events.”
Co-coordinator, Steve Phillips, gets so much out of volunteering at Maine Media that he does his part despite living in Portland. “We have Steve to thank for his terrific help with the recent Open House. Though we are currently a small group, we freely share our talents because we love the atmosphere and love being among a lot of really nice people who love photography and filmmaking as much as we do,” Hughes adds.
Now in its 39th year, Maine Media Workshops offers over 500 workshops for photographers, filmmakers, and media artists throughout the year. Programs are available for absolute beginners, serious amateurs, working professionals, and high school and college students. One-year Professional Certificate programs and a low-residency MFA degree program are also available through Maine Media College.
