Rockport, Maine—June 11, 2014—Maine Media Workshops + College welcomes Ashley Craig as its new Photography Program Director. Leaving behind the hustle bustle of Miami for the picturesque campus along coastal Maine, Craig arrived in Rockport just in time to greet summer workshop attendees seeking an immersive learning experience led by world-renowned filmmakers, photographers, writers and book artists.
Craig has traveled throughout the country garnering recognition for her work as an artist, educator and creative entrepreneur (see bio below). As the new Photography Program Director, Craig plans to work with students and faculty to identify opportunities for expanding programs and ensuring experience-centered workshops, which support photographers at all levels. She will also connect and cultivate sponsors that supply the state-of-the-art equipment and expertise essential for the caliber of programs offered here.
“Ten years ago, I worked at Maine Media as a photo intern and teacher’s assistant for two consecutive summers during college,” said Craig. “I found many mentors here who helped me grow as an artist and who had a big influence on my career. Now I look forward to doing the same by offering aspiring and professional photographers alike the workshops they need to cultivate their craft, such as marketing classes to help artists reach new audiences. I also look forward to teaching during our nine-month Professional Certificate for Visual Storytelling. I’m already working on the curriculum and recruiting students for next fall.”
“I feel so fortunate to have Ashley back on campus as a full-time member of our faculty and staff,” said Elizabeth Greenberg, Vice-President of Academic Affairs for Maine Media Workshops and College. “When she was part of our summer staff as a student, she showed so much talent. Now a decade later, Ashley brings a wealth of experience to the table. She’s a promising new addition to the Maine Media family.
