ROCKPORT – Students in the Maine Media College Professional Certificate program will celebrate the end of term and graduation on Thursday, May 27 during a public reception and celebration at Asymmetrick Arts in Rockland, from 6-8pm. A culminating exhibition at the gallery, on view from May 21-28, presents photography and multimedia projects developed by the students over the past nine months as part of their completion of MMC’s Professional Certificate (PC) program.
Maine Media College, the academic arm of the popular Maine Media Workshops, offers PC and MFA programs in photography, film and multimedia. Photography students include Gina Bower and Amy Temple of Camden; Dean Gyorgy of Wayne; Lydia Harris of Haverill, MA; Jessica Marsh of Hillsdale, MI; and Don Ungaro of Venezuela. The multimedia program, newly established in 2008, had its first PC students this year, Cassandra Moore of Boulder, CO; and Francisco Sabatier of Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico.
"It's been an exciting inaugural year of the multimedia program at Maine Media College,” says Tim McLaughlin, Multimedia Program Director at MMC. “Over the past 30 weeks, our students have learned the importance of storytelling with any medium, and I'm pleased to be able to share their experience with the public at large." Photography PC Chair Brenton Hamilton adds, “I’m always encouraged by the quality and breadth of the work produced by our students during their time in Rockport, which is readily apparent in their final exhibition. I hope everyone who has a chance will go and see it.”
Asymmetrick Arts is located at 405 Main Street in Rockland, Maine, and gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 10-5:30pm. For more information about Maine Media College, visit www.mainemedia.edu, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 877.577.7700.
