The Art of B&W Photography
In this workshop students explore the possibilities of B&W imagery - how to make the images work hard to tell the stories you want to tell. Part technique and part artistry, participants learn to actively listen to, interpret and frame their environment in B&W. Jesse challenges participants to hone their skills as visual storytellers, working with the camera, the frame and personal vision. Pushing creative boundaries, students discover a new awareness to their surroundings and realize newfound photographic possibilities.
The week begins with a critique of the ten best images by each student and progresses through daily assignment critiques throughout the week. Through class discussion, slideshows and his own work, Jesse illustrates key points on how to improve skills as photographers and how to maximize results in B&W. Set aside questions about Photoshop and printing, this is a workshop for those who want to spend time with their camera - and have fun doing it.
