Alumni Films to Screen in Rockport on June 2

image: Film still from Cole Christine's student film "Brian's Life"Maine Media Workshops & College will be hosting an evening of alumni film screenings on Wednesday, June 2 at 8PM in the Shepherd Theatre in Rockport Village. This event is free and open to the public.

One of the evening’s films, Brian’s Life, won the Williamstown Film Festival Student Shorts category in October 2009. Written and directed by Cole Christine in 2008 while he was a student in Maine Media’s Four-week Film School workshop, the film was shot primarily in Camden and tells the story of Brian, a lonely, elderly man nearing the end of life.

The event also features several films written, directed, and produced by Maine Media College 2009 Professional Certificate graduates. These narrative and documentary pieces were also filmed in the Midcoast and feature a number of the area’s talented actors, including Scott Anthony Smith (Belfast) and Ivan Zizek (Lincolnville) in Ashish Dawar’s I Am; Smith in Kevin Carragher’s Hitchhikers; Jake Lowe (Camden), Ellen E. Whalley (Damariscotta), Kendall and Reijo Rantala (South Thomaston), and Stephen and Aaron Jones (Hope) in Mike Strock’s Peter; Peter Christine (Damariscotta) in Pattiya Thanompudsa’s Commitment; and Kris Christine (Damariscotta) and Stefanie McAllister (Washington) in Carolyn Corzine’s Unforgettable.

The Shepherd Theatre is located in downtown Rockport at the end of the parking area immediately behind Union Hall and the Shepherd Building on Central Street.
