Walter Tisdale has been making books by hand using traditional letterpress and relief printing processes for many years. He earned his B.S. in Studio Art at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. His focus was book arts with Walter Hamady. He still collaborates with fellow classmates: Barbara Tetenbaum, Pati Scobey and Jim Lee. He met Jan Owen when he moved to Bangor in 1987. He enjoys collaborating with writers and artists to enrich the books he makes. This simple approach to fabricating books is direct and invigorating. Maine Media is fortunate to have a complete letterpress print shop with binding equipment to work in.
