Mary Virginia Swanson

Mary Virginia Swanson is a leader in the field of licensing fine art photographs in the commercial market. She founded the Swanstock Agency in Tucson, Arizona in 1991 to represent artists to this new market, and left the company in 1999 to launch M. V. Swanson and Associates, dedicated to bringing fine art photography and photographers to new markets. She has a strong background in the museum/gallery arena, and served as workshop coordinator at The Friends of Photography before moving to NYC in 1984. It was during her tenure heading Special Projects for Magnum Photos in NYC that she became aware of the increasing opportunities for creative photographers to license existing imagery. Swanson conducts workshops and lectures frequently for artists on marketing and fundraising, and regularly participates as a Portfolio Reviewer at events such as FOTOFEST.
