Eric Matheson grew up in northern Maine. After graduation from Bingham High School he attended Pratt Institute in 1963 and graduated from The School of Visual Arts in NYC as a Fine Arts Major in 1968. He became involved in the Film Industry shortly thereafter and became an active member of NABET Local 15/commercials, TV, and Feature film. At the time he specialized in Set Construction and Prop making. He later became the Department Coordinator for NABET 15 in New England and continued in the same position for several years for IATSE Local 481(New England) He is now the Maine Area Rep.(IATSE Local 481/New England) In New York he worked on such films as "Kennedy", "Ironweed" and "Crocodile Dundee II" In New England he worked on "School Ties", "Blown Away," "The Crucible," "Amistad" and many other films and commercials. While living in Maine he has worked on many features including "The Cider House Rules","Message in a Bottle", "Empire Falls" and several Independent features.

He also served on the Maine Film Commission from 1988 to 2005.

He is the owner of Native Son Productions LLC in Portland, Me. His company is associated with Maine Studios and Real Media Solutions offering complete services (including sound stage with CYC wall and green screen for all aspects of Film and Video production.)

Eric has spent 40 years in the Film Industry and has worked on over 80 Features, TV Series, and many commercials. His son Cameron has followed in the Industry as a Lead man (Set Decorator) as a member of IATSE Local 44 (Hollywood) and Local 481 (New England) and has also become successful in the industry.

Eric lives in Cape Elizabeth, is married with two grown children and three grandchildren.
