David H. Wells

David H. Wells is a freelance photographer and photo educator based in Providence, Rhode Island. An editorial, commercial and location photographer, he focuses on photo-essays for publication and exhibition. Past assignments have been for Life Magazine, National Geographic Publications and the New York Times Magazine. He has also produced 16 photo-essays for the award winning Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday Magazine. Portfolios of his work have appeared in American Photography Four, Camera and Darkroom, Communication Arts Photography Annual, Graphics: The Human Condition, Photo District News, Photo Magazine, PhotoMetro, Photo News, Photographers International, Photo Techniques, Shots and Zoom. David has received grants from the Macarthur Foundation, The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and a Fulbright Scholarship to India in 1999. He has taught classes at The Workshops, ICP, Syracuse University, RIT, The University of Arts and The University of Pennsylvania.
