Brenda Tharp

A professional photographer for over thirty years, Brenda began her career doing corporate and editorial photography. Yet while she paid the rent with commercial jobs, her love for photographing nature and travel images fed her soul. She continued to pursue those areas with a passion, and the pictures she made of the outdoors and while traveling also began to sell. Those images have continued to be published in calendars, greeting cards, books and sold as fine art prints. Her award-winning photographs are in collections across the nation, and published in a variety of books published by Chronicle, National Geographic, Sierra Club, as well as her own how-to books of Creative Nature & Outdoor Photography and Extraordinary Everyday Photography. Her images reflect a strong sense of design, and use of color, light and gesture to create impact. Brenda teaches students first how to open up their eyes and souls to see creatively, and then how to use photographic skills to translate what they see. Brenda is a passionate teacher, and supportive teacher.
