Bill Douthitt is National Geographic Magazine’s Managing Editor for Special Editions. He manages creation and production of quarterly large-format single-subject issues, which are available on newsstands.  Recent issues include health of the oceans, climate change, space exploration and renewable energy.  Over his 30-year career at National Geographic, Bill has worked as a graphic designer, photographer, picture editor, videographer, new media developer and writer.  He has authored several National Geographic science stories including the December 2006 cover story on Saturn.  With his wife Karen Kasmauski, he has produced several award winning large format books on global health issues.  Bill has a B.A. in communications from the University of Washington and an M.A. in science writing from Johns Hopkins.
