Thursday October 1, the Maine Film & Video Association (MFVA) helps kick off the Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) with an industry panel held in conjunction with the group’s annual membership meeting at 4:40 at Maine Media Workshops Union Hall Theatre. The theme of the panel is “Local Stories, Global Impact” and the focus is on how even the smallest story can reach a wide audience. Represented will be films featured at CIFF, which runs Oct 1 – 4.: Convention, the street level view of the Democratic National Convention; October Country, the SilverDocs award-winning examination of one family's struggles in a dying town, and The Rivals, the tale of rival Maine football teams from 'different sides of the tracks'. Also on the panel will be Kirsten Johnson, guest faculty from Maine Media Workshops whose work as a documentary DP and director is known worldwide. The panel will be moderated by Louise Rosen, international sales agent and Managing Director of Louise Rosen, Ltd. The Workshops will also offer dinner for all participants beginning at 6PM.
