Faculty Presentations the week of August 29 will take place at Union Hall Theater, 2 Central Street in Rockport Village at 8:00 pm. These events are free and open to the public.

Monday, August 29: Jonathan Laurence & Nancy Donaldson

Jonathan Laurence is a multi-media producer, conceptual designer /consultant, photographer, and artist currently living in mid-coast Maine. Jonathan works internationally with a wide range of clients helping create visions and ideas into realities. He received his Associates Degree in 2005 from the Rockport College and in 2007 received his BFA from the Art Institute of Boston. Jonathan has exhibited widely across the east coast and his techniques have been published in multiple guidebooks.

Nancy Donaldson is an award-winning Senior Multimedia Producer for Investigations at The New York Times. In this role, Donaldson specializing in visual and auditory storytelling and works on everything from individual stories to large-scale multimedia projects. Before coming to the Times, Donaldson was a Senior Multimedia Journalist for the Washington Post. Her work has received recognition from organizations such as the Emmy Awards, the Peabody Awards, and the Scripps Howard Foundation.

Tuesday, August 30: Mat Thorne & Douglas Beasley

Mat Thorne is an artist and designer from West Virginia. He earned his BA in Photojournalism and New Media from Western Kentucky University, and was the Art Director for Maine Media Workshops from 2004-2008. He continues his relationship with the Workshops as a faculty member, leading courses in digital photography, multimedia, and design. Thorne is also a lecturer, consultant, and freelance designer in New York City where he currently resides.

Douglas Beasley’s work has been published internationally and featured in numerous magazines such as Zoom, The Sun, B&W, Shots, PDN and PhotoVision. His first book, Japan, A Nisei’s First Encounter, offers insight into his journey to his mother’s homeland. His second book, Earth Meets Spirit, is being published by Five Continents Editions in Milan, Italy and will be out in Fall 2012.
