Faculty Presentations the week of August 1 will take place at Union Hall Theater, 2 Central Street in Rockport Village at 8:00 pm. These events are free and open to the public.

Monday, August 1: Special Film Event with Lance Edmands & Kyle Martin

Kyle Martin and Lance Edmands, key members of the filmmaking team that helped create last year’s acclaimed indie success Tiny Furniture ("Best Narrative Feature" 2010 SXSW, "Best First Screenplay" Independent Spirit Award), will be sharing their experiences of the independent film world, showing clips of past work and talking about their upcoming project Bluebird which will be shooting in Millinocket in January 2012.

Tuesday, August 2: Joe Baraban & Gregory Heisler

Joe Baraban has shot professionally for clients from Coca Cola to Hennessy, Cessna to United Air Lines and Boeing, and from Microsoft to IBM and HP. He has shot the full line car brochures for Acura, Saturn, and Range Rover, not to mention campaigns for Acura, Jaguar, Mazda and Ford. The tourism departments for Alberta, Canada, Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Texas have contracted Joe to shoot images for their state campaigns. Over the years, National Geographic, Life, Time, Newsweek, and the New York Times Magazine have used Joe for several of their editorial assignments.

Gregory Heisler is a New York-based photographer who is renowned for his technical mastery and thoughtful responsiveness. He is perhaps best known for his more than seventy Time magazine cover portraits. He created their first photographic “Person of the Year” cover portrait in 1991, and has photographed eight more such covers subsequently for the magazine. His iconic portraits and innovative essays have often graced the covers and pages of many magazines, including Life, Esquire, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and the New York Times Magazine.

Wednesday, August 3: Elizabeth Opalenik & Tillman Crane

Elizabeth Opalenik's innovative images have been collected, shown and profiled internationally in most major photographic publications. She privately leads figure, travel and dance workshops in the United States, France, Italy, Mexico, and Argentina while also conducting classes for National Geographic Expeditions and others. With her first monograph, Poetic Grace: Elizabeth Opalenik Photographs 1979-2007,  Elizabeth fulfilled her dream, learned many things about herself, her audience, publishing and being on press.

Tillman Crane is a large format photographer specializing in platinum prints. Artist, teacher, philosopher and photojournalist, he has been professionally involved with photography for over 30 years. Tillman has four limited edition books whose images work together to provide a glimpse of this artist’s world: Tillman Crane/Structure (2001), Touchstones (2005), Odin Stone (2008), and A Walk Along the Jordan (2009).
