Altschul Moderates Photography Panel at CMCA on November 14

November 5, 2010 to December 20, 2010

What's new in the field of photography, what's different and where is it all headed? Join us at the CMCA Sunday, November 14 at 2 pm for a lively discussion of current topics in photography moderated by Charles Altschul, photographer and president of Maine Media Workshops + College. Panelists include: Andy Graham, photographer and founder of Portland Color; Kim De Paul, photographer; Jonathan Laurence, photographer; and George Kinghorn, director and curator of the University of Maine Museum of Art.

Charles Altschul sets the tone for the panel, "In the history of technology, one can often see a resurgence of traditional forms in response to the introduction of new methods. We see this phenomenon playing out today as digital technologies have led to a resurgent interest in alternative photographic processes." Join us on the journey, enjoy the process and garner richness along the way.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibitions Photographing Maine: Ten Years Later on view at CMCA through December 5 and Going Forward, Looking Back: Practicing Historic Photographic Processes in the 21st Century  on view through November 19 at the Maine Media Gallery. The CMCA is located at 162 Russell Avenue in Rockport; Maine Media Gallery is just around the corner and down the hill on the first floor of the Shepherd Building, 18 Central Street, Rockport, Maine.
