$30 to enter one video through MARCH 1, 2014. $40 to enter one video after MARCH 1, 2014. Contest ends Midnight PST APRIL 15, 2014. Youth discount see below. Film judges include:Adam Spielberg, Producer and Founder, Filament Productions; Caroline von Kuhn, Camden International Film Festival, Managing Director, and ACE Productions, Producer; John Zavodny, Director, Unity College Center for Environmental Arts and Humanities.
A total of over $13,000 in prizes (including cash, merchandise and workshop tuitions) will be awarded to Grand Prize and Honorable Mention winners in categories including photo, video and writing.
In addition, Maine Media Workshops + College is excited to collaborate with Maine’s Bay Chamber Concerts on the theme of Seasons. Curator’s Choice Awards will be selected from Maine Media’s Seasons Contest entries, for display during, or in conjunction with, Bay Chamber Concerts’ performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at the Rockport, Maine Opera House.
CONTEST THEME – SEASONS
Time is marked through change and evolution. A period of time can be characterized by activities or circumstances, evoke a feeling or mood, or transform the landscape in distinctive ways. Every season has its unique beauty and power. Every season has a story -- share yours with us. This contest is an opportunity for photographers, filmmakers, and writers to share their interpretations and stories of the seasons.
We are grateful to B&H Photo Video Pro Audio for their contributions to our prizes.
One Grand Prize Video Winner, five Honorable Mentions and ¬multiple Curator’s Choice Awards will be awarded.

All winning entries will be posted on the Maine Media web site.
Winners may not receive cash in lieu of contest prizes. Winners can, upon providing written notice, transfer a prize to another party, i.e., in the event a winner cannot attend a workshop.
All entries will be anonymously reviewed throughout the Contest. Videos will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, artistic merit and relevance to the theme of Seasons.
We are pleased to announce this distinguished panel of judges who will review all work and select the Grand Prize and Honorable Mention winners.

DEADLINES & NOTIFICATION
The contest opens on February 1, 2014 and closes on April 15, 2014.
All entries must be received before midnight PST on April 15, 2014 to be eligible.
Entries submitted between February 1, 2014 and March 1, 2014 are eligible for an early submission discounted fee.
Winners will be notified within four weeks after the April 15, 2014 deadline.
Winning entries will be posted online at www.mainemedia.edu/contest in May 2014.

All fees are nonrefundable.
All filmmakers of any level, and all ages, are eligible.
Individuals affiliated with Maine Media Workshops + College, including current full-time or part-time year-round employees, board members, and their immediate families (children, siblings and spouses) are not eligible to enter.
Maine Media Workshops shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion.
This contest is not available in all countries, states or provinces where rules translation, registration or bonding are required, and is void where prohibited.
All videos must be submitted electronically through our web site at www.mainemedia.edu/contest. No mail-in entries will be accepted.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If access to your video is locked or your video is password-protected, you must unlock it or provide us with the password. If your video cannot be viewed, your entry will be disqualified. In the field titled “Image Name/Description”, please enter “Password = ___________”.
Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant Maine Media Workshops a license.
For a video in which a person is recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject's parent or guardian and provide it to Maine Media Workshops upon request. You do not need to submit it at time of entry.
Each submitted video, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant acknowledges that the submitted video(s) is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the video does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the video. Videos that violate or infringe upon another person's copyright are not eligible.
The videos entered must not, in the sole discretion of the Maine Media Workshops, contain obscene, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content. Entries deemed inappropriate will be disqualified.

Each entrant must set up an account on the contest registration site and register for the contest "Maine Media Workshops Contest: Seasons." An email confirmation will be sent to the email address affiliated with your account.
Follow the online instructions to upload and submit videos and pay fees.
The maximum length for a video is eight (8) minutes.
Entrants retain all rights to their work. Entrants must own and have exclusive copyright to all videos they submit. By submitting to Maine Media Workshops + College, Entrants grant the use of videos for the purpose of marketing by Maine Media, for display on the Maine Media web site and for display at, and in conjunction with, Bay Chamber Concerts’ performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Rockport, Maine on July 24, 2014.
As conditions of this permission, Maine Media Workshops shall attribute all videos to the maker.
We respect your privacy. Maine Media Workshops will not sell, rent or exchange your e-mail address.
This Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Certain restrictions may apply. Entries void if Maine Media Workshops determines the entry to not be an original, or if the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft.
Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; (b) that the decisions of the Judges are final on all matters relating to the Contest; and (c) if he/she wins that Maine Media Workshops may use each winner's name, city, state, and video in any publicity or advertising relating to current or future Contests. All federal, state, and local taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners.
Maine Media Workshops, in its sole discretion, reserves the right not to award all prizes in the event an insufficient number of eligible entries meeting the minimum judging criteria are received, and in this case will return the entry fees.
In the event that the selected winner(s) of any prize is/are ineligible or refuses the prize, the prize will be forfeited and Maine Media Workshops, in its sole discretion, may choose whether to award the prize to another entrant.
THIRD PARTY RELEASES/LICENSES
Upon request by Maine Media Workshops, each entrant must be prepared to provide a signed written personal release from all persons who appear in the video submitted, authorizing us to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entry in connection with and promotion of the Contest, in any media now or hereafter.
In addition, upon request by Maine Media Workshops, each entrant must be prepared to provide a signed written license from the copyright owner of any sculpture, artwork or other copyrighted material that appears in the video entry, authorizing us to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the video in connection with any promotions of the Contest. Failure to provide such releases upon request may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Maine Media Workshops and each of its partners, affiliates, agents and its employees, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Contest or any Contest-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.
Maine Media Workshops assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Contest entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. Maine Media Workshops is not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, human errors of any kind, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials related to this Contest.
RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND CONTEST
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, trojan horses, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Maine Media Workshops that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Maine Media Workshops reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. If Maine Media Workshops elects to cancel or terminate the Contest, Maine Media Workshops will not retain any rights in the submitted entries and will return the entry fees.
In the unlikely event that it is necessary, Maine Media reserves the right to make changes to the Contest.
