The works of father and son Paul Caponigro and John Paul Caponigro are featured in the photographic exhibit "Two Generations". It will highlight the careers of the family of artists as well as changing media and practices in the fine art of photography. The juxtaposition of different media may seem startling at first. While Paul is a traditional straight shooter, John is a process artist. Yet, after careful inspection, what is more apparent are the similarities. It becomes clear that each artist's work influences the other. Both artists share a strong dedication to their craft and a deep reverence for nature.

Fine art photographer Paul Caponigro’s fifty plus year career has been an illustrious one.  He is currently regarded as one of America’s foremost landscape photographers. Born in Boston in 1932, Paul Caponigro is renowned as one of America’s most significant master photographers. Paul was captured by photography early in life and the camera quickly became a lasting vehicle for reflection and discovery in nature. When he was thirteen, he began to explore the world around him with his camera and subsequently sustained a career spanning nearly fifty years. A student of Minor White he later discovered a kindred spirit with the west coast school of photography. In 1966 he began an enduring affinity with the megalithic structures of the British Isles. Paul Caponigro has exhibited and taught throughout the United States and abroad. Recipient of two Guggenheim fellowships and three National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grants, Caponigro’s images will be found in most history of photography texts and contemporary art museums. His exquisite craft and intense mystical sensibility bring to light images of extraordinary wonder he describes as “dreams locked in silver”.

Paul's son, John Paul Caponigro, is one of the most prominent artists working in digital photography. His life-long study of the arts began at an early age with his family and later included undergraduate studies at Yale University. John Paul dynamically combines his background in painting with traditional and alternative photographic processes using state-of-the-art digital technology. Respected as an authority on creativity and fine art digital printing, he is a highly sought after speaker, lecturing extensively at conferences, universities, and museums, in venues as diverse as Photoshop World, MIT and TEDx. He teaches workshops globally.  John Paul’s work has been published widely in numerous periodicals and books including Art News and The Ansel Adams Guide. A contributing editor for Digital Photo Pro and a columnist for the Huffington Post, he is the author of Adobe Photoshop Master Class and the DVD series R/Evolution. John Paul is a member of the Photoshop Hall of Fame, one of Canon’s Explorers of Light, an Epson Stylus Pro, and an X-Rite Coloratti. His clients include Adobe, Apple, Canon, Epson, Kodak, and Sony. His art has been exhibited internationally and purchased by numerous private and public collections including Princeton University, the Estée Lauder collection, and the Smithsonian (a collection that includes items from every media he has worked in).  His life’s work is both a call to connection with nature and a call for conscientious creative interaction with our environment during a time of rapid change.

Brendan Bullock’s Travel Journals serve as a documentation of his experiences across land and sea. Enticed by events world wide, Bullock has found himself amidst the largest livestock festival, Puskar Mela, in India; documenting humanitarian projects throughout Peru and Tanzania; and exploring the desolate ghost towns of Newfoundland. Using photography as a catalyst for interaction, Bullock’s deeply intimate images capture the visual and emotional moments most important to him. On photographing his travels, Bullock states, “I have strongly felt the experiences I have while traveling, and the interactions with those that I encounter, are more important than the pictures."

Brendan Bullock received his B.A. in Liberal Arts at St. John’s College in 2001. He then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2001 where he worked in fine art galleries while also assisting several fine art and documentary photographers. He relocated to Maine where he worked at Maine Media Workshops as a teaching assistant from 2009-2011 and taught his first solo workshop in 2014. Currently Bullock is a full time freelance portrait, editorial, and wedding photographer, as well as a nationally exhibiting fine artist.
