Every summer for the past four decades, the stars of photography align in Rockport, Maine to share their knowledge and inspire others by teaching at Maine Media Workshops + College. This year the renowned film, photography, and multimedia school is thrilled to offer YOU a chance to win your very own photo session with these luminaries, who have collectively photographed a stunning array of Hollywood A-listers, world leaders, cultural icons, and sports heroes.

The 11 participating artists have photographed such icons as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Barack Obama, Jodie Foster, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Michael Phelps, B.B. King, and Phillip Glass. Their work has graced the covers of TIME, National Geographic, Life, Vogue, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Sports Illustrated, and The New York Times Magazine, and is held in permanent collections of museums around the world. This is a rare opportunity to add a priceless portrait to your family collection AND support our amazing school!

The 48-hour online auction will open at 12:00pm on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Portrait sessions auctioned online will be won by the highest bidder when the auction closes at 12:00pm on July 15, 2014.

Craig Stevens is a photographer, printmaker and educator. He has taught, written and lectured extensively on the subjects of art and education and is currently a Professor of Photography at the Savannah College of Art & Design.

In 2013 Craig was awarded the first annual Susan Carr Educator Award from ASMP (American Society of Media Professionals) at the PDN Awards in New York. 


Craig will be teaching Experimental Digtal Printmaking and  Personal Vision & the Expressive Print at MMW + C




In the world of black and white landscape photography, Michael Zide has a most selective eye.  He possesses that rare quality of artful seeing, bringing his sensitivity to gesture and mood to every image.  Sensual and tactile, his work elicits a visceral response.

Over the past 30 years, he has created a body of work that has been featured both internationally and in galleries from New York City to Los Angeles. Portfolios of his landscape photography have appeared in magazines such as Silvershotz, Black and White, Today’s Photographer,  Fotomagazin and Photo/Design, while manufacturers of the finest digital coffee table books such as Graphistudios continue to use collections of his work to show off the lush tones of their printing process.  His photography has also been used to advertise Schneider large format lenses,  Sinar Bron large format view cameras, Mitsubishi photographic printing papers, Polaroid Corporation instant imaging, Millers Imaging, and MPix digital printing services.

His landscape photographs from Martha’s Vineyard Island, Western Massachusetts and the Southwest are in private, corporate, and museum collections.

Selected as a Master of Moab fine art imaging,  Michael’s work is printed on Moab fine art printing papers and exhibited at industry shows and galleries here and abroad.  Sponsored by Manfrotto, (formally Bogen Imaging),  Michael speaks about his unique vision at PhotoPlus Expo in New York City, The Event Space (B&H Photo) and other venues.

He divides his time between teaching at the Hallmark School of Photography, running workshops, mentoring and  speaking about  the art of landscape photography.
